Black Eagle Chapter

Two Montana DAR Chapters merged to form a single chapter called Black Eagle/ Assinniboine Chapter. The Black Eagle Chapter was organized by Mrs. Millennie Miller Rogers on December 11, 1919. The Chapter was named after the Black Eagle Falls on the Missouri River near Great Falls. The falls were named in 1804 by Lewis and Clark for the eagle that roosted in the top of a broken cottonwood tree in the middle of the river. The Assinniboine Charter was named for the Assinniboine tribe of Native Americans that lived in the region. The Assinniboine Chapter was originally located in Havre.
