Shining Mountain Chapter was organized on February 22, 1918, in Billings, by Organizing Regent Mrs. Mary Caldwell.

The city of Billings lies in the shadow of the Bighorn Mountains. When explorers came in sight of the snow-covered mountains they were inspired to name the region the land of Shining Mountains. Four State Regents, one Vice President General, and one Honorary Vice President General, Miss Marjorie Stevenson, came from this chapter.
